Logically this dialog box is divided into two parts:

· area of definition of score system
· area of definition of grades and outcomes

1. Score system

Choose score system from three available options:

· Simplified (used in the majority of assessment software, a participant gets points for right answer, sometimes according to question weight);
· Standard (participant gets points according to question weight, you can set points for right and wrong answers, refusal of granting an answer and use of tips);
· Complex (this score system made TestGold unique assessment tool – you can reach flexible grading by configuring points, earned taking into account question type, number of choices, refusal of granting an answer, partially right answer and etc.).

Choose property group to edit from Points for list and they become accessible for editing in fields below.

Property editor of score system (Use of Tips category) is shown below:

TestGold provides possibility to define question tips. The tested person can use them to answer the question. Tips can be of different significance. It should be pointed out, when using tips, earning points are reduced for a specified value according to the tip significant factor and Points for Every Used Tip property. See the image above.
Notice: To decrease points,
set negative value for this property.

Property editor of score system (Alternative, Likert Scale (3-option), Single Response categories) is shown below:

TestGold provides possibility to refuse from answer definition (interpretation of selection of I Don’t Know choice or use of the I Don’t Know button in test session dialog) in case of voluntary admission of tested person in impossibility to answer or disagreement with offered limited choices. Earning points are reduced less in comparison with unsuccessful attempt to guess right answer. Hereinafter, to define this reduction, use Points for the Refusal of Granting the Answer property.
Notice: To decrease points,
set negative value for this property.

Hereinafter, to calculate earning points depending on the number of offered choices, select the Number of Choices option.

Property editor of score system (Likert Scale (5-option) category) is shown below:

2. Definition of grades and outcomes

Choose result type from Outcome System list.

· Percent Rating. Outcome is based on the percentage of earned points to the max possible one.
· Grades and Outcomes. Use this option to get more exact interpretation of testing results. You can define grades and outcomes using controls, described below.

If you select Percent Rating option, you can edit single property Pass Level. It defines minimum points that required to pass test. Pass Level is specified as percentage of earned points to the max possible one.

In the Grade Count field, specify max number of grades.

To use “inverse system” of grade interpretation (it’s characteristic of Germany, 1 is a max grade and so on 2, 3, 4, 5), select Like German System property.

When you change some properties described above, press Magic Outcomes button. If the list is not empty, you will be prompted to confirm the refreshing.

Notice:
We recommend you to correct uniform distributed percentage of automatically created outcomes. You can even define outcomes manually.
