TestGold offers complex test format. Here we offer its brief description.

 

1.1. Test types.

Now TestGold allows to create use tests of 3 types:

· Educational test.  
· Standard Psychological test;  
· Advanced Psychological test;  


1.1.2. Educational test.

This test type is used at educational testing. Test questions have specified right (reference) answer. Test of this type can contain questions of more difficult types such as alternative, likert scale (3-option), likert scale (5-option), single response, multiple response, ranking, multiple matching, free-form single response, free-form multiple response, free-form ranking, essay. All questions are for evaluation of professional skills in some knowledge domain.

1.1.2. Standard Psychological test.

This test type is used at psychological testing. All questions are for definition of some psychological characteristics of a person. There are no “right” and “wrong” answers in psychological tests.
Instead of it:
1) each possible choice can be evaluated by some points according to current score system and test outcome is based on the value of earned points according to specified intervals (Interval Method of analysis);
2) you can specify combination “Question – Master Choice” and define outcomes according to the compliance (Combinative Method of analysis).

1.1.3. Advanced Psychological test.

In addition to functionality of standard psychological tests, advanced psychological tests are more complicated and can consist of some sections. They offer multifactor outcome system as total summary, accentuation discovery, most and least expressive factors + optional comprehensive analysis.

1.2. Question types.

There are 12 question types, their usage depends on a test type (Questions of 2-12 types are used in educational tests only).

1.2.1. Psychological.

It is used in psychological tests.

The tested person must choose only one of the offered choices.

Any test answers can be used as question choices.
There are no “right” and “wrong” answers, that’s why you don’t need to specify reference answer.

For example:
Are you upset now?
– No, I’m not
– Yes, I am
– Right
– Quite right

1.2.2. Alternative.

It is used in educational tests.

The tested person must choose only one of the offered choices.

Only 2 predefined answers: “Yes” and “No” can be used as choices.
You must specify reference answer at development.

For example:
Is Paris a capital of France?
– Yes
– No

1.2.3. Likert Scale (3-Option).

It is used in educational tests.

The tested person must choose only one of the offered choices.

3 predefined answers: “Yes“, “I don’t know” and “No” can be used as choices.
You must specify reference answer at development.

For example:
Is Paris a capital of France?
– Yes
– I don’t know
– No

It is used in educational tests.

The tested person must choose only one of the offered choices.

5 predefined answers: “Yes“, “Rather yes than no“, I dont know“, “Rather no than yes” and No” can be used as choices.

1.2.5. Single Response.

It is used in educational tests.

The tested person must choose only one of the offered choices.

You must specify reference answer at development.

For example:
What city is a capital of France?

– Versailles
– Hong Kong
– Paris
– Peking

1.2.6. Multiple Response.

It is used in educational tests.

The tested person must choose one or several of the offered choices.

You must specify reference answer at development.

For example:
What cities are situated in France?
– Moscow
– Versailles
– Hong Kong
– Paris
– Peking

1.2.7. Ranking.

It is used in educational tests.

The tested person must put the offered choices in order.

You must define sequence elements and reference answer (right sequence) at development.

For example:
Arrange the cities by way of their remoteness from London.

– Versailles
– Hong Kong
– Paris
– Peking

1.2.8. Matching.

It is used in educational tests.

The tested person must specify pairs “matching item in answer part – matching item in question part”.

You must define matching items and specify reference answer (right pairs of matching items in answer and question parts) at development.

1.2.9. Free-form Single Response.

It is used in educational tests.

The tested person must enter free-form answer (one line) from the keyboard.

You must specify reference answer as some string at development. Mask (symbols * and ?), regular expressions and synonyms of reference answer are allowed).

For example:
What animal is considered to be sacred in India?

1.2.10. Free-form Multiple Response.

It is used in educational tests.

The tested person must enter free-form answer (list of lines) from the keyboard, the order doesn’t matter.

You must specify reference answer as some string list at development. Mask (symbols * and ?), regular expressions and synonyms of reference answer are allowed).

For example:
Spesify the seasons.

1.2.11. Free-form Ranking.

It is used in educational tests.

The tested person must enter free-form answer (list of lines) from the keyboard, the order of entered values does matter.

You must specify reference answer as some string list at development. Mask (symbols * and ?), regular expressions and synonyms of reference answer are allowed).

For example:
Arrange the planets of the solar system by way of their remoteness from the Sun.

1.2.12. Essay.

It is used in educational tests.

The tested person must enter free-form answer from the keyboard (data size is not limited).

There are no “right” and “wrong” answers, that’s why you don’t need to specify reference answer.
The answer
to the Essay question is not evaluated automatically. Essay evaluation with giving some points is fulfilled manually by the expert.

Clarify the sense of a phrase “No pains, no gains”.
